Supergirl
It was her voice,
as if talking to myself,
that was home for me.
I knew who she'd be before I knew her,
and I knew to love her straightaway.
The smile in her voice,
her sigh and her confidence,
her clarity and her poise,
her dignity and her intelligence,
all these,
worked into a single person,
my miracle daughter.
What lies ahead,
only God knows,
but one thing's for sure:
At least one thing is right
with Ashley in this world.
