The Vampires

A movie
A song
They all told of a familiar theme
Sold to a belief that right undoes wrong
And OH, so wrong, so wrong,
But to save, to save another
Everyone is so hopeless
Without a present day savior

The martyr
The do-gooder
The court jester
The eternal taxi driver
The confidante
The social worker without a job
All found by the swarm of vampires
Teeth into submissive flesh
Charity ripping, sucking
Red blood dripping sluggishly down
Down from a fool's-gold idol
Feed the third world

Feed the third world?
Try it
Send a ten-spot and be barraged with
Thousands of junk mail envelops
Financed by other suckers
And profits from third world
Peasant labor

So some move to the selfish side
A place to love one's self
Wallow in autoerotic pleasure
Be a support group addict
Play affirmation tapes
Be positive ... ly useless
To everyone but the almighty self
Maskarading as a person with purpose

Triple jeopardy
The saint seeking redemption
The vampire seeking a mother
The self actualized seeking it's trail
The elimination continues:
The porcupine seeking isolation
The prophet seeking equilibrium
One is as valid as the other
So why not be a
Hyper-critical brain sucking
Intellectually mobile
Trivially unpersued
Twit!
