The spirit of psychobabble is upon me, and as psycho humor flows from my finger tips, the joke has been turned back upon me. Who would have thought that the word "psychobabble" would pass a spellchecker? Well, it did, and this is quite the problem. Psychobabble is on the rise. It's a boon. Cell phones and rabbits on ecstasy seem dormant in comparison.
Who would have thought just twenty years ago that sexually anorexic, manic-depressive, ADHD positive, HIV neurotic people would be everywhere? Actually all of the symptoms of the above collection of diseases, as defined in standard psychiatry material, appeared throughout history. Unfortunately, these Emperors, Bishops, Monks, military heroes, scientists, Kings and Princesses didn't have the medications we have today. One wonders how they rose so high in cultural history, but we can't dwell on these trivial points. One must go on with the business of "wellness".
Now that people have finally abandoned the pursuit of continuous happiness, they suspect that "well" is the best they can do. It's the logical conclusion to make after a half a century cram packed with psychotherapy, cocaine and buzzing sex toys followed by more misery than before.
